« Threads of Color »

Welcome to the “Threads of Color” exhibition, which aims to pay tribute to the beauty of the world and the diversity of cultures through the intersecting perspectives of photography and nomad fashion.

On this occasion, we invite you to discover a selection of beautiful photographs taken by Denis Kulakov. Based in Paris, this photographer and globetrotter focuses on the richness and variety of human expression in different cultures.

His lens captures not only nature, animals, and wildlife but also the countless faces encountered during his travels around the world. From Africa to Asia, from Europe to America, Denis Kulakov has endeavored to capture the gazes, gestures, and stories of distant peoples and cultures. His photographs are a particularly colorful reflection of traditional attire in their incredible diversity of patterns, symbols, materials, and … colors.

Located in the heart of Paris on the île St Louis, the Bamyan boutique showcases its creations of clothing inspired by both ethnic and contemporary styles made in India and Central Asia thanks to the talent of local artisans: weavers, embroiderers, printers, etc. The “Imprints” collection for spring/summer 2024 highlights the richness of colors and the remarkable block printing work on handwoven cotton done in Rajasthan. Fuchsia, orange, ocher, or indigo, the elegant and flowery lightweight cotton outfits delight the summer and testify to the expertise of an ancestral culture.

Journeys, a sense of color, aesthetic exploration, respect, and preservation of cultures and traditions threatened by modernity, all these aspects reflect a shared approach and values. From this approach was born the encounter of two worlds: photography and textiles, and today the project “Threads of Color.”
